You will then be asked to pay a ‘ransom’ like blackmail – ‘I won’t give you your files until you give me $300. But please keep in mind paying the ‘ransom’ may not give you access to your information, no guarantees, remember these cyber attackers are ruthless.

If you’ve paid the ‘ransom’ contact your bank they may be able to block the transaction and return your money.

Preventing Ransomware Attacks.

Here are a few ways you can prevent ransomware attacks, loss of data and a loss of money.

1. Backup up your files regularly and keep a recent backup off-site.
2. Be very careful about opening unsolicited attachments.
